NationBuilder works to integrate your Twitter and Facebook followers and supporters into your nation. Unlike custom social networks, we don't try to fill the role of a stand-alone social site. Rather NationBuilder draws on public Twitter and Facebook data and activities on your site to populate your nation's database and our "public profile" feature. The public profile for a supporter will have things like event RSVPs, donations and other public interactions.

To turn public profiles on or off sitewide, click Websites > Site settings from your control panel and check the "Show public profiles" box.

Social capital ("SC") is NationBuilder's currency system. In the political edition of NationBuilder it's called "political capital" by default, and all nations can customize the name of their currency.

Social capital is earned through scores of activities, such as RSVPing for events, mentioning a nation's broadcaster(s) on Twitter, recruiting new signups to a nation, and having many Twitter followers who are also members of a nation. You can customize the defaults for social capital in your control panel under Settings > Defaults > Social capital.

Social capital is a useful metric for quickly identifying influential and active members of your nation. Under the "People" section of your control panel, you can sort any of your lists, tagged groups, or saved filters by their amount of political capital (Watch Kathy and Adriel discuss currency search options on this clip from NationBuilder Live). You can also use political capital and public leaderboards to promote your nation's supporters.

NationBuilder uses secure pages for all database transactions and has round-the-clock systems monitoring and a regular security audit schedule.

NationBuilder is an application that powers websites and community databases. It also enables sharing on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. After actions like RSVPing for an event or making a donation on a NationBuilder-powered site, you may be prompted to share that action on Twitter and Facebook. If you've not already authorized NationBuilder to access those applications on your behalf, you will have to do so to enable this sharing function. If you authorize your Facebook account, NationBuilder will share the post to your Facebook without you having to leave the site you're on, and enable deeper integration with that site.

These Facebook authorization settings are specific to the site you're using, and NationBuilder will not post anything on your Facebook that you do not authorize.
