Today is the 7th annual #GivingTuesday, and one of the biggest days of online fundraising for nonprofits around the world. For all of November, we've been sharing on social media how you can support STA and our parent organization, The Baobab Home, during this month of giving. Below, we've summarized 10 creative ways for you to give back.
1. Sign up on AmazonSmile.
By simply shopping at smile.amazon.com and registering with Baobab Home, Amazon donates a portion of the sale to us—at no extra cost to you. Sign up here, or by searching “Baobab Home” on their charity listings.
2. Donate your birthday.
Instead of asking for gifts this year, you can make a lasting impact on our children’s lives by asking for donations. You can set up a birthday fundraiser directly on Facebook, or by using external platforms like GoFundMe and Mightycause.
3. Volunteer.
Volunteering is a great way to support our work and to see the impact of our programs firsthand. Find out more about volunteering with Baobab or STA on our websites, or send an email to [email protected] if you have any questions.
4. Register for match grants with your employer.
One of the best ways to increase your impact is by applying for a match grant through your employer. Most companies that offer them match gifts at a 1:1 ratio up to thousands of dollars a year! There are some initial forms to fill out to get set up, but most of them are online and fairly straightforward. As a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, donations to Baobab are fully tax-deductible in the United States, and we're happy to provide any documentation or paperwork you need to get approved. If you're a sponsor at STA, a match grant would allow you to effectively sponsor two children—at no extra cost to you. Ask your work if they support the program, and you can start doubling your donation today!
5. Become an ambassador.
Another FREE way to support us is to become an ambassador! Ambassadors spread the word about our programs by sharing social media posts, handing out flyers/brochures, giving presentations, and more. It can be as much or as little work as you want, and we're here to help you every step of the way! 6. Leave a review on GreatNonprofits.
You can support Baobab and STA by leaving us a review on GreatNonprofits. It's a review site like Yelp, but for nonprofits. Reviews can help us raise the visibility of our work, increase trust in our programs, and even attract new donors. Leaving a review is easy, and it only takes two minutes. 7. Round up your purchases with ChangeUp for Charity.
Donate your spare change to Baobab with ChangeUp! Download “ChangeUp for Charity” from the App Store and search “Baobab Home” to get started. The app lets you round up your purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference. It’s such a small way to make a big impact!
8. Host a fundraiser.
From church bazaars to cocktail parties, silent auctions to beer pong tournaments, marathons to the polar bear plunge, Baobab donors have hosted some of the most creative fundraisers we’ve ever seen! 9. Give on DonorSee.
